Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira will take charge of his side’s match against West Ham at 17:30 tonight after the end of his self-isolation.

The legendary ex-Arsenal midfielder will return to the dugout, as confirmed by the club’s official website, after a positive COVID-19 test prevented him from taking charge of his team’s defeat to Tottenham and win over Norwich.

Vieira will be hoping to continue winning ways after the Norwich win but West Ham will be hoping to capitalise on their 4-1 thrashing of Watford on 28 December.

Moyes will face off against Vieira in this hotly contested first game of 2022.

The official statement simply read: “We are pleased to confirm Patrick Vieira will return to the dugout to manage Crystal Palace against West Ham United following the end of his self isolation.”

Threat for West Ham

The announcement comes just hours before kick-off as Moyes prepares to take on Crystal Palace in this match.

Vieira has proven to be a superb appointment this season for Crystal Palace and Moyes would certainly have preferred to face off against an assistant.

However, the Hammers must take positives from their match against Watford and use it to push on in this game.

The match should be a fairly simple victory for the Hammers who netted four against the Hornets in that match thanks to strikes from four different players, emphasising their ability on the front foot.

Vieira will be hopeful of taking something from the game on his return to the dugout. His side currently sit in eleventh after a drastic overall from the Roy Hodgson era saw introductions of multiple new youthful recruits amongst the playing staff.

This one should be a pretty simple victory for the Hammers.

In other West Ham news, the club are set to keep hold of a star defender this January.
