David Gold is “delighted” to see the London Stadium’s capacity being increased as the good news keeps on rolling at West Ham.

On Wednesday, the Hammers confirmed that the capacity of the former Olympic Stadium will be increased from 60,000 to 62,000 after planning permission was granted.

With the Irons performing well in the Premier League and Europe, tickets at the London Stadium are becoming rarer and rarer and this latest development in East London will only benefit the club over the years.

Speaking via Twitter on Wednesday, Hammers co-chairman Gold said: “I am delighted to confirm that we have been granted permission to increase capacity at The London Stadium from 60,000 to 62,500.”

Future is claret and blue

West Ham really are going from one strength to another right now.

While things on the pitch are going brilliantly, things behind the scenes are also starting to improve too.

David Sullivan has loosened his grip on first-team affairs and allowed David Moyes to flourish. While he could hand the manager a better transfer budget, we can’t have too many complaints about what’s happened since Moyes’ return to the London club.

As for Gold, he’s also starting to win over some more support and this latest development with the London Stadium is a step in the right direction.

It’s only a small capacity rise when all things are considered but more needs to be done to make the London Stadium a football stadium and not a multi-purpose venue that’s primary function is for athletics.

If this stadium can host an Olympics and Major League Baseball, then it’s not really a football stadium.

In other West Ham news, this is what Michail Antonio said to Cristian Romero in the win over Tottenham.
