Declan Rice has sent a message of support to Angelo Ogbonna after the West Ham defender’s anterior cruciate ligament injury.
West Ham confirmed that the 33-year-old is set to be sidelined after sustaining the issue in Sunday’s 3-2 win over Liverpool at the London Stadium, where he was forced from the field during the first half.
Reacting to the news via his personal Twitter profile, Rice wrote: “We are all with you brother! The fact you even carried on for a couple of minutes shows the type of character you are. Big love oggy.”
All in it together
One of the most obvious elements of this current West Ham team is how close they are with each other and the bond that has developed during their time together.
It’s a close-knit group, and that has been fostered by David Moyes and his coaching staff.
Ogbonna is one of the most senior players at the football club and the Italian is a leader in the dressing room with his vibrant personality and the way in which he conducts himself.
He is also a fine defender and his attributes will be keenly felt on the pitch as Moyes attempts to find ways to replace him over the next few months, and potentially longer.
Craig Dawson was the Italian’s replacement on Sunday, and he may well find himself set for an extended run in the starting XI after Tuesday’s development.
In other West Ham news, Darren Gough predicts the Irons to make a major move in the January transfer window to sign this player.
