Genoa have held “positive” talks to sign West Ham forward Andriy Yarmolenko in January, according to a report.

Pianetagenoa1893 claim that Andriy Shevchenko wants to sign his fellow Ukrainian and end his nightmare with the Hammers.

The 32-year-old has appeared for just 52 minutes in the Premier League this season but has played a lot more in the Europa League.

However, with his contract set to expire next summer, it seems as if Genoa have decided to try and launch a move for Yarmolenko.

Speaking to Tribuna, Shevchenko has previously talked down speculation linking Yarmolenko to Genoa but Pianetagenoa1893 is adamant there is something happening.

Yarmolenko on his way out?

The Ukrainian international has struggled at the London Stadium for a long time for a variety of reasons.

First, he suffered a bad injury and then it appeared as if David Moyes preferred other options to him.

That is certainly the case now, with the likes of Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma well ahead of the former Borussia Dortmund forward.

He has a reputation for scoring some special goals, including one against Tottenham Hotspur, which was described as “brilliant” by talkSPORT.

So, you can see why another club might want him, and you would hope that the Irons can get him off the wage bill.

This isn’t anything to do with Yarmolenko as a player because he is still very good on his day; he just isn’t the future of this football club, and the quicker they move him on, the better.

So, let us all hope that the Irons and Genoa can agree a deal in January.
