Chris Foy claims that Jurgen Klopp does not have a valid reason to complain about Kurt Zouma’s opening goal for West Ham on Sunday evening.
The Hammers registered a convincing 3-2 victory against the title contenders.
Zouma’s header from an Aaron Cresswell corner was given in real time and despite the VAR checking it, they did not feel there was enough contact to rule it out.
After the game, Klopp was moaning about the decision.
“The first goal is a foul on the goalie,” he told Sky Sports. “The arm goes against Alisson’s arm so how can he catch the ball when someone pulls his arm away. It makes no sense. It’s the typical excuse that VAR says it’s not clear and obvious but then what do you need?
Discussing this incident in Premier League’s Weekend Round-up Show, Foy, a former Premier League referee disagreed with Klopp’s assessment.
He said, “When I’m watching it I just don’t see a foul. That’s the right decision. Contact is a normal part of football. The goal standing was the right call.”
Sore loser
Klopp cannot admit that Moyes won the tactical battle and completely outclassed his side on the day.
He probably expected to cruise through this game, but since minute one, he would’ve noticed that his side would have to be at their best to get something out of the contest.
Rather than just admitting that they lost to the better side, he opted to complain in his post-match interview.
He has proven himself to be a sore loser in the past and he hasn’t mended his ways despite all the plaudits that have come his way.
That won’t matter to the Hammers fans as they have seen their side register yet another remarkable victory.
