Lille forward Jonathan David is unlikely to leave the French club this season, amid links to West Ham, claims ExWHUemployee.

The reliable Hammers insider has stated that the club are looking at him as an option, along with Mohamed Bayo and Hugo Ekitike.

However, the club have not made progress to sign any of the strikers just yet but are determined to sign one before the window shuts.

Worth waiting?

David is an exceptional forward who West Ham must sign if they get an opportunity to do so.

The 21-year-old Canadian was breathtaking en route to an unlikely title win last season and has done the same this term as well.

In 15 league starts, he’s already scored 12 goals and is likely to move to a bigger club at the end of the season.

There were links with him in the summer, but the Hammers could not really get this over the line.

If they can buy him this month and loan him back, that could be a move that works for all parties.

Michail Antonio’s form means that the club can deal with just him for another six months before having someone like David who would be an upgrade on the Jamaica international.

The next three weeks are key and anything can happen before the window shuts.

In other West Ham news, the club want to sign a ‘World class’ central midfielder in January and the player is set to leave on one condition
