West Ham United defender Ben Johnson has been sensational in recent weeks when stepping in for Vladimir Coufal.

ExWHUemployee has been pestered by fans asking if the Irons will be extending the contract of the defensive sensation.

The insider has shared that the Hammers have a clause to automatically extend the deal of Johnson by two years.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Ex believes that the club may even look to offer a longer deal than just those two years.

“They have a two-year extension opportunity on his contract already but think they could go in for an either longer offer soon,” he wrote.

“The man has been sensational.”

Sensational.

Johnson has been phenomenal in the absence of Coufal, who may find it increasingly difficult to come back into the squad.

The young defender has been fearless and has helped keep clean-sheets in big games against the likes of Manchester City, Spurs and Genk.

More on that, the Irons haven’t actually conceded in the six games that he has played in this season – winning all nine of his duels along that run, as well as no one dribbling past him.

That record is incredible, and it shows that Johnson is a player who deserves to be rewarded.

What better way to do that than a new deal? This is surely going to be on the table sooner rather than later at the London Stadium – make sure it’s longer than two years.
