Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have both included West Ham midfielder Declan Rice in their Team of the Season for 2021-22 so far.

The England international, 22, has been a key player under David Moyes, and is one of the reasons they started the campaign on a bright note prior to their recent slump.

The Sky Sports pundits both agreed on Monday Night Football last night (27 December) that Rice has been one of the best in his position in the top-flight thus far.

The Hammers ace has played every minute of the Premier League campaign for his side so far, scoring once and weighing in with three assists.

He will miss today’s (28 December) trip to Watford due to a suspension, and it is safe to say that Moyes’ side could struggle to dominate in the middle of the park without him.

Rice has not had a bad game this season, and he has been a consistent standout performer for his side.

Despite their recent blip, finishing in the top-four is still very much possible, and they can always rely on him to deliver.

West Ham will now hope they can get him to agree to a new deal and spend his future at the London Stadium.

Rice is wanted by almost all the teams challenging for the title and is also not short of suitors abroad.

Most of these teams can offer him a chance to win major silverware, play Champions League football every season and also afford to pay wages the Hammers can only dream of.

Holding on to him could prove to be herculean, and they will need to end the campaign on a very impressive note to have a chance of doing so.
