David Moyes has showered heaps of praise on Declan Rice, saying the West Ham ace is the best midfielder in the country.

The 22-year-old has been outstanding this season for the Hammers, and pundits and fans have run out of adjectives to describe him.

Moyes has suggested that Rice is “really committed”, and that he is improving and growing.

When asked whether Rice was best in the country, Moyes said to BBC Radio Scotland: “I think I’ve said a couple of times that I do believe he is [the best in the country].

“He is young and improving and has been captain while Mark Noble isn’t starting.

“He is learning and getting better. I genuinely think he is as good as any midfield player in the country at this time.

“With him being young I can only see him continuing to improve. He is a great boy to work with, really committed. He is part of the different mentality we have around West Ham, we are determined to challenge the teams and be committed against them.”

Uncertain future?

Moyes has suggested that Rice is “committed” to the task,
and it seems he is enjoying his game as well.

However, his future at the club is far from secure.

Rice has previously expressed his desire to play in the Champions League, and he can achieve that with his boyhood club as well.

The England midfielder has rejected two contract extension deals the club, and at the moment, no offer for Rice has been placed, as yet.

While Rice is focused on playing regular football for his club and country, he is waiting to see if West Ham can match his ambitions.

A top-four finish at the end of the season and significant investment in transfer windows could persuade Rice to commit his long-term future at the club.

A host of clubs are reportedly interested in signing him, by they will have to pay a premium fee to lure him away.
