According to Swiss outlet 4-4-2.ch (29 November), Basel striker Arthur Cabral, 23, is the subject of a £17million bid by the East London club, with Goal also reporting last week (26 November) that talks had been opened with the Brazilian’s representatives.
“Antonio does get injured so I get that they want to bring a striker in. If they’re going to spend that kind of money then it’s going to be a hell of a help because the competition for the number one spot up front is going to be very healthy.”
Wind has scored 11 times this season while Cabral already has 25 goals in 26 games in all competitions this season, after netting 20 times in 36 appearances last term.
If the Irons are successful with their reported £17million offer for Cabral, it would make him the 12th most expensive player in the club’s history, and their second most expensive centre-forward [Transfermarkt].
In other club-related news, Stuart Pearce issued an on-air answer when asked on Thursday if the Irons are set to sign Jesse Lingard in January.
