Carlton Cole has been blown away by the camaraderie among the West Ham squad under manager David Moyes.

The Hammers are punching above their weights in 2021-22, impressing across all competitions as they look to mount a credible challenge and win major silverware.

West Ham are currently third in the Premier League table after Sunday’s 3-2 win over Liverpool, and while some believe they could be in the conversation for a title challenge going forward, Cole wants the players to take it game by game, suggesting the cordial relationship between them could be hugely beneficial.

The Hammers hero said on talkSPORT (as shared on their official account): “We’re just enjoying the moment. Everyone’s talking about we might win the league or where it will be satisfactory for you to end up. We’re just enjoying it game by game.

“We don’t need to focus on where we end up, we need to look at game by game and how well we’re playing, because right now when you look at it, there are not many teams that do what we do and can affect the game as good as we can.

“I just can’t speak highly enough of David Moyes and how he has got the team playing. They are working as a team.

“You can see they’ve all bonded, and I don’t know how Moyes has done that. His backroom staff are really good, he’s got the leaders in the changing room. They are very good as well. Everything is happening well for West Ham, and long may it continue.”

Huge boost

West Ham players have become a tight-knit group, and the strong bond in the squad has definitely played a key role in their impressive start to the season.

While someone like Mark Noble has not played a lot of games this term, his role in the dressing room remains of great importance, and a lot of developments off the pitch has got the Hammers firing on all cylinders.

The players are challenging themselves for opportunities in the line-up, and rotating the team has worked perfectly well for Moyes.

The quality and style of play have been the same regardless of whichever line-up the manager opts for, and that quality in depth should get them going.

Cole is aware of the factions that exist in dressing rooms and would have witnessed how teams struggle to deliver on the pitch as a result.

West Ham players have been like one single unit, and that could be key to their first major silverware since 1980.
