Jurgen Klopp has poured praise on Jarrod Bowen ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash between Liverpool and West Ham.

The Reds boss, speaking at his pre-match conference on Friday afternoon, told reports of his admiration for the 24-year-old Irons winger.

As shared by The Athletic journalist James Pearce via his personal Twitter profile, Klopp said: “It’s good fun watching them. They have become a high intense team. I like (Jarrod) Bowen a lot. He worked his way up from Hull. He’s made big steps.”

Future move?

Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for Bowen this year. The Athletic reported in July that he was on a summer shortlist of targets, with Klopp a big fan of the Englishman.

Klopp has made that abundantly clear in today’s press conference, so it is not unthinkable that he will launch a move for the West Ham star in the near future.

It’s unlikely to be this season, during the January transfer window, but there’s every chance he could target the forward in the summer of 2022.

Klopp already has Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota as options across his frontline, but the first three will all be in their thirties next year, and thus the Reds will surely be in the market for younger alternatives.

Bowen fits the mould as he likes to get in behind the defences and use his energy to cause havoc among the opposition, and his relentless nature and ability to press from the front are characteristics that are sure to wash well with Klopp.

However, the Irons will be desperate to keep hold of him, and while they are in Europe and he remains a guaranteed starter, does he need to move imminently?

Of course, players have ambitions, and he’s a lot more likely to win the Premier League and Champions League with Liverpool, but he’s unlikely to be guaranteed a starting spot in their side as long as Salah and Mane are still around.

In other West Ham news, the Irons want to sign this ‘Brilliant’ £25.3m South-American centre-mid who won a big 2021 cup.
