Jeff Stelling has predicted West Ham to be held to a 1-1 draw in their Boxing Day clash against Southampton

Providing it takes place as games continue to be cancelled, West Ham are set to host Southampton at the London Stadium on December 26.

The Hammers sit in fifth, just outside of the Champions League places which will be firmly in David Moyes’ sights as his team look to emulate their 2021 success in the new year

Next up on the agenda for the Irons is struggling Southampton. The Saints have failed to win in their last six and find themselves in 15th after a disappointing start to the campaign but that doesn’t mean it will be an easy game for West Ham

Must win

If the Hammers want to remain in the hunt for the hugely competitive top four places, these are the games they simply must win. These are the type of games that separate the best from the rest – something that must be understood as the club looks to grow on and off the pitch.

Despite being in the midst of such bad form, Ralph Hassunhuttl is an outstanding tactician and will not make it easy for the East Londoners.

Them not winning in their last six doesn’t cover Southampton in glory but they did manage to draw three and pushed a rejuvenated Norwich under Dean Smith to the wire away from home.

They are becoming increasingly desperate for results as they drop closer to the relegation zone and are more than capable of taking points off of West Ham, so everybody needs to be 100% on their game.

This is the perfect game for us to bounce back after the hugely disappointing exit from the EFL Cup after defeat to Tottenham.

In other West Ham news, West Ham want to sign Adnan Januzaj in January.
