Jermaine Jenas has predicted that West Ham will be in contention for the top four at the end of the season.
While the title race is likely to be decided between Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea, the fourth spot is up for grabs.
Arsenal have jumped into the top four after beating the Hammers 2-0 in midweek.
Jenas told BT Sports (16 Decmber), as transcribed by Daily Mail: “That [the top four race] is going to be an interesting part come the end of the season. It is going to be wide open.
‘West Ham are going to be in the conversation, I think they will get themselves back into contention. What I like about Arsenal at the moment is defensively they look really good.”
David Moyes has done a tremendous job so far, but it’s going to be a tough war till the end.
Last season, they narrowly missed out on the top four, and it
will be a real heartbreak if they miss out on that spot once again.
The Hammers have done incredibly well, both domestically and in Europe. Now, the real challenge begins to stay in the zone and keep the momentum going.
There are some issues Moyes need to solve in order to have a successful campaign. But most importantly, West Ham need some signings in January.
The loss of Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna has left a big void in defence, and Moyes must look to replenish that by signing at least one defender.
Likewise, Michail Antonio has been struggling recently with his form, and West Ham have no replacement for him. Signing another striker is also a priority.
If West Ham can sort these two areas next month, they will be well equipped to challenge for the top four.
In other West Ham news, an amazing attacker is making personal arrangements for Hammers switch in January.
