BT Sport pundit Joe Cole spoke highly about the feeling of togetherness at the club during analysis of West Ham’s 2-2 at Genk.

The 39-year-old came up through the youth ranks at West Ham and was speaking about the club’s current spirit after the Hammers picked up a point that secured passage through to the Europa League knockout stage.

Analysing Said Benrahma’s first goal of the night on BT Sport coverage, Cole pointed out Angelo Ogbonna’s beaming smile on the bench and how it represented a great togetherness within the squad.

“That clip shows the team spirit, all the lads are together!”

“He’s happy, Ogbonna. He’s thinking I’ve got a jumper done up here,” Cole joked.

“That clip shows the team spirit; all the lads are together,” Cole concluded, with both fellow pundit Carlton Cole and host Jules Breach agreeing with the 39-year-old.

Crest of a wave

West Ham are certainly on the crest of a wave at the moment. The squad is blossoming under Moyes, the players are loving their football, and the fans are smiling – and so often cheering.

The decline of this monumentally pleasing period isn’t even currently envisagable, either. Occupying the final Champions League place in the Premier League and confirmed Europa League knockout stage participants, the confidence is oozing at the London Stadium and it translates into incessantly assured performances in which the side don’t look as if they’re going to lose.

Of course, there will inevitably be bumps in the road and, Sunday’s clash at home with Liverpool will be a gargantuan test in that respect. Generally speaking, however, the Hammers currently look a colossally strong outfit.

With the abundance of jubilation in the dressing room and clear comradery between the players, Moyes can really lead his squad to something special this season.

In other West Ham news, the smiley Declan Rice has been nominated for October’s Player of the Month award.
