West Ham got the better of Liverpool at the London Stadium on Sunday, running out 3-2 winners after a fierce clash.

Alisson deflected Pablo Fornals’ corner into his net before goals from the Spaniard and Kurt Zouma got the job done for the Hammers.

The France international centre-back’s first goal for West Ham proved to be a very important one as Liverpool’s attempt to fight back was too little, and he took to his personal Instagram account to share his joy after the game.

He said: “Top atmosphere, top performance, top win.

“First goal for West Ham.”

Zouma’s former Chelsea teammate John Terry was pleased with his performance, taking to the comments section to react thus.

Massive performance

Zouma has been terrific since swapping Stamford Bridge for the London Stadium during the summer transfer window, and he showed exactly why David Moyes wanted him with his performance against the Reds.

The Frenchman stopped the attacking trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota from causing damage, and his goal at the other end to help put the game beyond Liverpool’s reach was a well-taken header.

West Ham are third in the Premier League table as a result of Sunday’s victory, and Zouma has played an important role as they continue to impress across all competitions this term.

Only 11 Premier League games have been played this term, but the Hammers can rely on the centre-back to deliver consistently over the course of the next 27 games.

Having a solid defence is crucial for any team that wants to challenge for the top-four, and the Irons have one thanks to Zouma.
