A late own goal from Tomas Soucek against Genk on Thursday night denied West Ham United manager David Moyes a chance to celebrate his 1000th game with a win.
The Scottish boss would have been hoping to mark the incredible milestone with a victory, but the Belgians held his side to a 2-2 draw in their Europa League Group H clash.
Moyes took the result in good faith, though, and according to Football.London journalist Thomas Clark, he headed straight to the Hammers midfielder to offer him words of comfort at full-time.
He wrote on his personal Twitter account: “Moyes went straight over to Soucek to console the Czech.”

Moyes has seen it all as a manager, and with 318 defeats, 256 draws and 425 victories to his name heading into Thursday clash, he was not going to let a draw change his mood.
Soucek was definitely gutted to have been responsible for Genk’s equaliser with just three minutes left on the clock, but there was absolutely nothing he could have done about it.
With three wins and a draw in four Europa League group games, West Ham are surely on track to clinch a berth in the last-32 of the competition.
They were awful in the first-half at Belgium, heading into the break a goal down.
Whatever Moyes said or did in the dressing room worked magic as Said Benrahma scored twice to put them into the lead before the unfortunate own goal.
It only led to a draw, but Moyes would have reacted the same way even if it had cost West Ham all three points.
He is a class act, and one result would not change that despite the significance of the occasion.
