West Ham fans were heard chanting about the prospect of facing Barcelona during their Premier League clash against Burnley at Turf Moor.
According to Football London journalist, Tom Clark, the Hammers fans were chanting about facing Barcelona in the Europa League clash.
The Hammers have progressed to the knock-out rounds of the Europa League where they could face the Catalan giants.
Clark wrote on Twitter: “Barcelona, we’re coming for you, we’re coming for you, Barcelona we’re coming for you,” sing the West Ham fans at Turf Moor.”
The Hammers were superb in European competitions this season.
David Moyes’s side qualified to the knock-out rounds with a game to spare, and they now could face Barcelona, who dropped out from the Champions League.
The Hammers fans are already dreaming about doing well in Europe, although in a fun way. It only goes to show the level of optimism around the team.
However, the primary focus now shifts back to the Premier League, where a tough top-four race is on the cards.
With Tottenham’s game postponed due to covid situations, it is ideal for the Hammers to extend the gap and consolidate their position.
The Europa League draw will take place on Monday afternoon in Nyon.
In other West Ham news, the club have made contact to sign an int’l striker & a £17m January move is now on the cards
