West Ham co-owner Daniel Kretinsky will fly into London from the Czech Republic for a board meeting next month, according to Claret and Hugh.

The billionaire recently completed the purchase of a 27 per cent stake in the club, and he will be discussing the January transfer window plans with David Moyes and the rest of the board.

Recruitment for the winter is top of the agenda for the meeting, and the Hammers chiefs will be running the rule over the shortlist of players presented by the manager before reaching a decision.

Kretinsky means business after joining David Gold and David Sullivan as West Ham owners, and he appears ready to start investing in the squad right away.

Despite their brilliant start to the campaign, the Irons will need to strengthen their squad in January, and they could do with a new striker and left-sided centre-back following Angelo Ogbonna’s season-ending injury.

The Hammers are currently fourth in the Premier League table after 12 games, but only four points separate them from seventh-placed Tottenham Hotspur, and they could find themselves out of the European places if they slip up.

For that not to happen, getting in a credible cover for Michail Antonio is crucial, and last weekend’s 1-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers underlined why West Ham cannot always rely on him.

The Jamaican international striker has been involved in nine goals in 11 league games this term, but he has scored just once in his last six games, and Moyes needs to have someone he can always call on to give him a run for his money.

The quality of the business they do in January will determine how their campaign ends, and they need to make the right decisions.
