West Ham secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Chelsea at the London Stadium on Saturday (4 December), with Arthur Masuaku grabbing the winning goal.

The Hammers left-back appeared to cross into the box, but his effort found the back of the net, and when he took to his personal Instagram account after the game to ask whether he intended to score, Jesse Lingard joked that he did in the comments section.

The win ensured that David Moyes’ side remained in fourth place in the Premier League table, and they proved themselves with the win.

Lingard continues to keep an eye on happenings at West Ham, and his reaction to the incident on social media could hint at a lot.

Who cares?

Edouard Mendy was off his line already as he anticipated a cross, and while many will argue that Masuaku got lucky, the Hammers would not care as they deserved all three points against the title contenders.

Despite boasting of the best defence in the land prior to the game, Chelsea shipped three goals for the first time this campaign, and if West Ham can replicate this performance every matchday, they could be challenging for the top prize too.

Not many gave them a chance prior to the clash, but the Irons had other plans, pulling out a surprise as they did against Liverpool.

It was another performance to prove that they are still very much in the top-four race despite their stuttering form after November’s international break.

Yesterday’s win was massive, but they needed some good fortune for it to happen, and they will need loads of it going forward this term if they want to end the campaign with Champions League football secured for next season.
