David Moyes went out of his way to congratulate Wolves midfielder Joao Moutinho after his side beat West Ham 1-0 on Saturday.
The Hammers’ good run of form in the Premier League ended with Raul Jimenez’s winner at the Molineux.
Despite a late flurry of attacks, the visitors never seemed like getting back into the contest and returned to the capital empty-handed.
Via his personal Twitter account, Football London’s Tom Clark noticed Moyes up to something.
He wrote, “David Moyes must have been impressed with Joao Moutinho as he made a beeline for him to shake his hand and have a few words.”
The Portugal international was one of the best players on the day and absolutely ran the show for Bruno Lage’s men.
He was extremely busy on the afternoon and kept the play ticking constantly.
Of his 81 attempted passes, he managed to complete a staggering 75 – with an accuracy north of 90 per cent. [SofaScore]
He also played two key passes and was constantly looking to tear open the West Ham defence.
Moyes must know that he cannot expect the same results by starting the same team week in and week out.
There needs to be a little chopping and changing to avoid complacency.
The attackers clearly looked off the pace and a couple of them could be binned for the next game in the league.
