Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard is still keen on a move to West Ham, according to reliable insider ExWHUemployee.

The England international spent the last four months of the 2020/21 campaign at the London Stadium and catapulted himself into contention for the Euro 2020 squad.

The Hammers tried to sign him all summer, but that did not work out and he ended up staying at Old Trafford.

While it seemed like interest in Lingard had cooled, ExWHUemployee claims that he is still keen on a move to West Ham.

He said, on the West Ham Way podcast, “I believe that they’ll try to make a move for Jesse Lingard again. As we all know he hasn’t got his chance at Manchester United and his contract is up in the summer.

“He seems to be not really valued at the club and I think he’d be interested in a move back. His brother, who is also his agent, has made it clear that Jesse misses time at West Ham.

“Also, Lingard keeps speaking positively about the club.”

Still a chance?

The months Lingard spent under David Moyes were undoubtedly the best ones of his Premier League career.

He scored and set up goals for fun and after joining as a laughing stock, he successfully managed to silence all his critics.

Paul Scholes, who’s been critical of him in the past, also waxed his lyrical and labelled him as a “sensational” player. [Metro]

Lingard looked like he was staying in Manchester because Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made assurances that he would get playing time.

However, he’s found minutes on the field of play hard to come by and once again, his career appears to have stagnated.

He’s got only a few months left on his deal and arguably around two years at his best.

Whether or not he wants to use those helping the Hammers reach the next level or warm the benches at Old Trafford, is entirely his choice.
