David Moyes’ side has started the campaign in blistering fashion, currently sitting level on points with Manchester united in the Premier League’s Champions League places, while taking the Europe by storm.
There were concerns over the team’s potential lack of depth at the beginning of their European journey, although a 100% record in the Europa League thus far have squashed those. They look for their fourth consecutive Group H win at Genk on Thursday.
“We have a very good team, we have a very good personality, and it’s good to be part of this team because we have young players, old players, experience – this team has everything and we are looking very well,” the Argentine said.
The 28-year-old went on to predict that, despite the difficulty of their next two fixtures, the Hammers have strong chance of coming away content. Following their Europa League trip to Genk, they host Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
“They are two big games, but I think we (can do) very well. We need to focus on our strengths and we need to keep going like this,” he concluded.
Lanzini has had to endure a tough start to the campaign. The Argentine, despite being one of the club’s most thrilling talents over the past six years, has been reduced to a bit-part player due to the performances of his colleagues.
While other Premier League clubs endure their temporary periods of turmoil, the Hammers continue to give their supporters a feel-good factor. Determination, resilience, flair, tenacity and outright quality have been mixed into Moyes’ melting pot, and it’s created a side that can really threaten the perennial ‘big boys’.
Their lofty position – in which they do not look out of place – and the opportunity to seal a place in the knockout phase of the Europa League with just a point on Thursday is the deserved evidence of their remarkable growth and consistently brilliant performances en masse.
