West Ham will travel to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Eagles have been brilliant at home this season, and they have beaten teams like Tottenham Hotspur, Wolves and Everton already.
West Ham are heading into this game on the back of a morale-boosting 4-1 win against Watford, but BBC Sport’s Mark Lawrenson feels it would be a close contest.
Lawrenson has predicted a 1-1 draw for this game as he finds both sides evenly matched. Writing his column for the BBC Sport website, he says: “Both these sides enjoyed comfortable wins last time out, but West Ham probably needed theirs more because they had started to look a bit leggy.
“This should be a good game, because Crystal Palace will think they can get at the Hammers, and vice versa. I think it’s going to be close, which is why I am going for a draw.”
The victory against Watford was much needed after a mini-slump in form. The win came after the Hammers suffered three consecutive defeats in all competitions.
On top of that, the victory over Watford brought them back into the mix for the top four race just when it seemed like they are losing their grip.
The likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are all vying for the elusive fourth spot, and the Hammers must fight till the end to be in the race.
Selhurst Park can be a difficult place to visit, while Crystal
Palace are looking like an entertaining team under Patrick Vieira.
However, these are the games that could define West Ham’s
season. If they can manage a victory here, it could give them immense
confidence while the momentum will be maintained.
With Declan Rice back in the side again, and Jarrod Bowen playing sensational football at the moment, there’s no reason to believe why the Hammers can’t pick up all three points on Saturday.
In other West Ham news, these Hammers have been selected in a BBC pundit’s Team of the Year.
