David Moyes watched Folarin Balogun in international action for England Under-21s this week, with West Ham previously linked with the striker.
The Mirror report that the 20-year-old is fed up with youth football and wants a new challenge, either on loan or possibly permanently away from the Emirates.
Balogun has only made three first-team appearances this season, totalling just 77 minutes on the pitch, so you can see why he seems fed up at the Emirates and could look for a move away.
He said: “I feel like I am ready for a new challenge.
“I feel like I am definitely open to a new challenge; wherever it is, I will be ready.”
Bold message from Balogun.
Now, given that he has only ever made two Premier League appearances for the Gunners, you would think that he might not have the required experience to make a difference for the Irons.
However, he is clearly hungry, and you would think that he would relish the challenge of going up against Michail Antonio for a role in Moyes’ team.
He has also been described as “fantastic” by Goal’s Arsenal correspondent Charles Watts.
He isn’t going to sit in the reserves at Arsenal forever waiting and hoping that he will get a chance, so the Irons could strike and make a move for the forward and sign him permanently.
However, Middlesbrough’s boss Chris Wilder was also in attendance to watch Balogun score against the Czech Republic at Turf Moor on Thursday, and you would think they would be willing to take Balogun on loan, which might suit Arsenal better.
However, if the Hammers were to come forward with an offer, it would be intriguing to see if they could take Balogun and add him to their young and hungry squad that Moyes is building.
