West Ham defender Vladimir Coufal is set to be given a chance to impress against Rapid Vienna in the Europa League clash tomorrow, according to reports from Claret and Hugh.

The 29-year-old lost his place in the starting line-up to youngster Ben Johnson, who has been in outstanding form this season.

Coufal struggled with a groin injury and he has found it difficult to replace the 21-year-old in the starting line-up.

With the Hammers already qualified for the knock-out rounds,
David Moyes is looking to give Coufal another chance to impress him.

Top-class player

The Czech Republic international is a top-quality player who
produced some superb displays last season.

Back in February, after West Ham’s 3-1 win over Aston Villa, Moyes hailed him as a “fantastic” player [BT Sport 2 via WHZ].

Unfortunately for him, Johnson has been in a rich vein of form, and Moyes can’t drop him from the side.

Coufal joined the Hammers in 2020 and established himself as one of the most reliable players under Moyes. To be fair, he should be playing regularly, given his wealth of talent and experience.

His work rate and winning mentality are vital traits and he has played a massive role in taking West Ham where they are today.

The fact that his absence has been superbly covered up by Johnson’s emergence shows how good the youngster has been. It also reflects the depth of squad the Hammers now possess.

The youngster is making huge progress, and it is up to Coufal to raise his game to give Moyes a selection headache as the Hammers enter a busy run of fixtures.

In other West Ham news, an amazing attacker is making personal arrangements for Hammers switch in January.
