David Moyes has revealed that the West Ham board are ready to back him during the January transfer window as he looks to bolster his squad.
There are still three weeks left before the winter market, and the Hammers are looking to bring back Jesse Lingard, sign a striker and a defender, according to Football.London.
The club are ready to support their manager following a fine start to 2021-22, and he is now looking for the right players.
Moyes told Football.London after Sunday’s FA Cup win over Leeds United: “Obviously, we are looking for players and we’d like to add to the squad if it’s possible.
“The board have made it clear that if I want to do it, and we can find the right players they will let it happen. So we’re looking yes.”
West Ham are looking to add three quality signings to their ranks this month, and getting it right could have a huge say on their campaign.
Lingard helped them to a fifth-place finish last season, and bringing back the Manchester United attacking midfielder could be hugely beneficial.
He ended up scoring nine goals and weighing in with four assists in 16 Premier League games during the second half of 2020-21, and while he has barely featured for the Red Devils this season, the Irons know he has what it takes to hit the ground running at the London Stadium outfit again.
While Kurt Zouma is expected to return to full fitness soon, Moyes would still love to strengthen at the back, and a player capable of playing at centre-back and left-back would be ideal.
Michail Antonio has been brilliant so far this term, but he needs a quality cover and competition.
The Jamaican international striker has not always delivered, and having someone to keep him on his toes should do him a lot of good.
