The Blues are top of the Premier League table after 14 games, and with their position on the line when they take on the Hammers, Owen reckons a win is on the cards for them, predicting a 2-1 loss for David Moyes’ side in his BetVictor column.
West Ham are without a win since action resumed after November’s international break, but they will be keen to make a statement of intent when Thomas Tuchel’s men come visiting later today (4 December).
“The good news is that they remain firmly in the top four race, but they need to start picking up more points.
“It wasn’t a dominating victory, but Wednesday’s win over Watford was vital for Chelsea. My only concern at the minute for them is the number of goals they are scoring. Lukaku is still working his way back to full fitness, so they need him back fit and firing.
“This will be a very even game, but I can see Chelsea narrowly edging it, 2-1.”
The league leaders will be presenting them with an entirely different challenge, though, and they need to prove their top-four credentials.
Two of their draws have come in their last four games, though – against Burnley and Manchester United – and given that they laboured to a 2-1 win against Watford on Wednesday (1 December), playing them at the moment could be good news for West Ham.
