We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium

Frank McAvennie predicts West Ham to beat Crystal Palace on Saturday despite being impressed by Patrick Vieira’s work in South London.

Palace will make the trip to the London Stadium this weekend in good form with Vieira’s side winning two and drawing one of their last four Premier League fixtures.

McAvennie sees shades of the Hammers in the Selhurst Park club but he feels as though if David Moyes can name his strongest-possible starting line-up on Saturday evening then he’ll see his side to victory.

“What a good game it’s going to be, it’s nutters,” McAvennie told West Ham Zone.

Crystal Palace have changed dramatically under Patrick Vieira.

He’ll go to the London Stadium and won’t fear West Ham. He’ll give them the respect he needs to.

I think it’s going to be a good game.

If everyone’s fit for the Hammers, they’ll win it by a goal.

They’re going to need their best 11 players on the pitch because Palace are on the rise, similar to what West Ham were last year.”

Moyes won’t have a fully-fit squad to take on Palace due to a number of long-term injury issues in his squad.

It hasn’t been the best few weeks for the Hammers in the Premier League with Moyes overseeing just two wins in his side’s last eight matches.

However, the 4-1 win at Watford earlier this week was encouraging and is something for the Irons to build on before they welcome Palace to East London on Saturday.

In other West Ham news, ExWHUemployee has issued a major injury update with a ‘brilliant’ player set to be out for up to three months.
