West Ham will face Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium.

Paul Merson has predicted a 2-0 win for the Premier League champions. He has suggested that the Hammers are finding it difficult to stay in the top four after the 1-0 defeat against Wolves in their last Premier League game.

The Sky Sports pundit adds that David Moyes will set up a counter-attack strategy with two forwards up front, but they won’t get anything from the game.

West Ham beat Liverpool this month, but lost what should’ve been a run-of-the-mill game against Wolves. That’s been the problem with them this season – they’ve found out that it’s easy to get into the top four, but the hardest thing is to stay there,” wrote Merson for SportsKeeda.

Manchester City dominated the game against PSG this week and were ripping them to shreds for the most part. They didn’t score too many goals, however, and that is their Achilles’ heel. West Ham are going to set up on the counter with Fornals and Antonio, but I can’t see them beating Manchester City.”

Tough game

It is arguably one of the toughest games of the season for the London club, as the Premier League champions are in outstanding form at the moment.

Having said that, Merson is slightly harsh here. The defeat
against Wolves was West Ham’s first in their last nine games in all

The Hammers have bounced back to winning ways after beating Rapid Vienna 2-0 to secure a passage to the Europa League knockout rounds on Thursday.

Despite the defeat, West Ham are still fourth in the table. The
battle for the fourth position is tough this season, but the Hammers have shown
they’ve got enough quality and character to finally break into the top four.

West Ham have already knocked City out from the EFL Cup competition this season, and they can take that confidence with them going into this match.

City, fresh from their Champions League win against PSG, will go hard at West Ham, but the Hammers are unlikely to crumble without putting up a strong fight.
