West Ham and David Moyes are the perfect fit for each other, says former Hammers boss Alan Pardew.
The Scot is in his second spell at the London Stadium and
has led the club to fourth in the Premier League table after the opening 12
games of the campaign.
Pardew, who has not worked in English football since leaving West Brom in 2018, revealed he is delighted that Moyes is succeeding with the Hammers.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, he said: “You can be dealt a bad hand as a manager. Look at David Moyes at Sunderland and now look at him at West Ham. He’s been given another chance.
“David is a great guy, perfect for West Ham. He’s got a good
hand this time and can play it well because he has the quality and experience.”
Moyes made his name as a manager at Preston North End and
then Everton, but saw his reputation diminish following a series of unsuccessful
Succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United was always going to prove difficult, but he lasted just nine months in the Old Trafford dugout before being sacked.
He failed to reignite his career in Spain with Real Sociedad,
before suffering relegation from the Premier League with Sunderland in 2017.
After an uninspiring six-month spell as West Ham boss in the
2017-18 season, eyebrows were raised when he was reappointed in East London 18
However, he has transformed the club beyond anyone’s expectations and secured European qualification last season after achieving a club-record Premier League points total.
This season, the Hammers have looked like genuine top four
contenders, have knocked both Manchester clubs out of the Carabao Cup and have
topped their Europa League group.
No wonder supporters have dubbed him the ‘Moyesiah’.
