Newcastle have entered the race to sign West Ham target and Marseille defender Duje Caleta-Car, according to the Telegraph’s Matt Law.

He claims that the Hammers have tracked the 25-year-old in the past and still retain an interest, but are now rivalled for his signature.

The Magpies, after their Saudi-backed takeover, will be looking to strengthen in January to ensure they retain their top-flight status.

Must needed

The Croatia international has been someone on West Ham’s radar for a while and he’s only gotten better since he was first linked.

Not only is he doing well in Ligue 1, but he was also exceptional at the EUROs in the summer.

At one point, it seemed like the Hammers were prioritising him, but eventually ended up going for Kurt Zouma.

Now, due to Angelo Ogbonna’s injury, the club are forced to re-enter the market for a centre-back.

Popular scouting website IBWM had called him a “sensational talent” in 2018 and we believe that he has only improved since then.

The 25-year-old would undoubtedly walk into this Hammers side and it remains to be seen whether David Moyes prioritises him in January.
