West Ham United crashed to a 3-2 defeat against Southampton in the Premier League on Boxing Day.

Ian Wright was not impressed with the entire squad after Michail Antonio admitted things had gone “stale” at the London Stadium.

The former Arsenal man took aim at Arthur Masuaku, with his defending letting his side down at crucial points of the game.

Speaking on Match of the Day last night, Wright insisted that Masuaku was simply “poor” throughout, although he wasn’t the only one.

“He’s just committed himself there, Masuaku,” he said.

“He had a poor game.”

This was simply not good enough, but from the whole team, not just one player and they will all know that.

Masuaku has come up with some big moments this season such as the winner against Chelsea, but even that was slightly lucky.

With Aaron Cresswell unavailable through injury right now, his inability to be consistent and solid in defence is becoming glaringly obvious.

Unfortunately for the Hammers, the need to bring in a new central defender is taking top spot next month and a new left-back may not be on the agenda whatsoever.

With that in mind, Masuaku simply needs to stand up and be counted, because right now, he is letting certain people down around him.

Wright was not impressed, and injuries are really taking their toll at this moment in time, hopefully – this gets through to the likes of Masuaku.

In other West Ham United, this one Irons star is set for a bumper new deal at the London Stadium as interest sparks GSB into action
