Eintracht Frankfurt have reportedly joined West Ham in the race to sign Liverpool defender Nat Phillips in January.

According to German publication Bild, the Bundesliga side are also keen on the wantaway English defender as they’re prepared for Evan Ndicka’s exit in January or in the summer.

On 16 December 2021, The Athletic reported that Liverpool are keen on parting ways with the 24-year-old and will demand a fee in the region of £15million for his services.

Snap him up

Given the fact that he’s on the market, there are going to be a lot of teams lining up to sign him.

At 24, he offers teams an option not just for the present, but also for the future.

Given the Hammers’ injury concerns, with both Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna long-term absentees, it makes sense to make a move for Phillips in January.

Frankfurt are in a different country and possibly will not be able to match the wages that West Ham could offer the player.

Phillips, who has been labelled “superb“, will be an upgrade on Craig Dawson and Issa Diop and could be Zouma’s long-term partner at the heart of the Hammers defence.

It remains to be seen if the board actually table a bid for him in the coming weeks as it’s imperative for them to sign a centre-back before the window shuts.
