West Ham have established themselves as one of the early favourites for the top-four in 2021-22, and David Moyes deserves all the credit.

The Hammers manager made some changes to his backroom staff in May, with Alan Irvine stepping down from his full-time role as assistant manager to become the club’s technical advisor.

Despite the change, he remains a valued member of Moyes’ backroom team, and he now provides scouting reports on the opposition.

According to The Athletic, Irvine was at Elland Road last weekend to watch Wolverhampton Wanderers take on Leeds United.

West Ham travel to Molineux Stadium later this month to take on Wolves, and it appears Moyes was keen to get a detailed match report from one of his most trusted assistants.

The Hammers secured a 2-1 win over Leeds when they met in September, and the Whites were no match for the London side.

West Ham have only lost two Premier League games so far in 2021-22 heading into Sunday’s trip to Aston Villa, but they are already looking ahead to the Wolves game from the look of things.

The Midlands outfit were held to a 1-1 draw by Marcelo Bielsa’s side thanks to a late equaliser from the penalty spot, and Irvine surely would have identified the strengths and weaknesses of Bruno Lage’s side.

They should not be much of a threat to the Irons, but Moyes is definitely not leaving anything to chance and will be working on the scouting report to fully prepare for their clash.

West Ham are leaving no stone unturned in their bid to break into the top-four this season after narrowly missing out on Champions League football last term, and it is not a surprise that Moyes is keeping an eye on his rivals this term.
