West Ham United have been absolutely fantastic this season, and Sam Allardyce has praised David Moyes for signing Kurt Zouma in the summer.

The France international centre-back, 27, has helped the Hammers to third place in the Premier League table after featuring in their last seven games of the campaign, and Big Sam reckons he could be perfect for Newcastle United.

The former West Ham boss was given the task of managing the Magpies on Football Manager, and he spent part of his £200 million budget on Zouma.

Allardyce told SportBible: “I rated David Moyesdecision to go out and get Zouma this summer.

“If you’re talking about budgets again, then he would be a great choice for Newcastle. The experience he picked up at Chelsea, and the amount of quality he possesses in defensive positions, is important. He’s learned lots over the past few years.

“And just look at why Chelsea did so well last year, and how they won the Champions League. It was because of their defensive qualities. They were extremely difficult to score against. Clean sheets are very important.”

Big defender

Zouma walked straight into West Ham’s defence shortly after his arrival from Stamford Bridge and has become a mainstay.

He is Moyes’ first-choice, and the Scot knew exactly what he was going to get after convincing David Sullivan to splash the cash on the Frenchman, and he has not disappointed.

Allardyce knows all about defending given his style of play, and it is not surprising to see him admit that he would snap up the Hammers ace if he were managing Newcastle.

Zouma could not establish himself as a regular at Chelsea but has done so at the London Stadium and will be hoping to guide them to a top-four finish.

With winning silverware one of the club’s targets for the season, bolstering their defence will definitely go a long way in boosting their chances across all competitions, and they have secured the services of one of the best in the business.
