Sky Sports pundit Daniel Gabbidon claims David Moyes “likes” Southampton striker Armando Broja and has suggested West Ham as his next club.

Broja, 20, is on loan at Southampton from Chelsea and last night (Tuesday), the Slough-born Albania international scored his seventh goal of the campaign in the Saints’ 4-1 win over Brentford.

And according to ex-Hammers player Gabbidon, Moyes is a fan of the young Chelsea striker and has touted London Stadium as his potential next destination.

“Moyes likes him,” said Gabbidon in one tweet on Tuesday after Broja’s goalscoring display versus Brentford.

Afterwards, someone on Twitter asked if Chelsea could sell Broja in the summer transfer window and Gabbidon simply replied by saying: “West Ham.”

Moyes likes him.

Future striker option

If West Ham do not sign a new striker this month then it’s fair to say that they have no choice but to do so in the summer.

Michail Antonio has stayed fit this season – touch wood – and we’ve done well when Jarrod Bowen or someone else has had to play up front in the striker role.

However, that cannot last forever and we even may need to start thinking about a long-term replacement for Antonio, who’ll turn 32-years-of-age before this season is over.

He’s not showing any signs of slowing down or regressing but it’s natural in football to future-proof yourself and in Broja, West Ham could do that.

The 20-year-old has been superb for Southampton this season – and he only turned 20 in September.

He’s in a good vein of form and is definitely someone who Chelsea have done well at developing.

Hopefully, he doesn’t fall into that trap of being loaned out every season.

He’s already served his mandatory spell on loan at Vitesse in the Netherlands, scoring 11 times in 34 appearances there.

After impressing at Southampton on loan, the next step is surely for him to get a permanent home in the Premier League or get game-time in Chelsea’s senior squad.

With the latter looking very unlikely, the Irons definitely could have a go at landing the striker in the summer.

In other West Ham news, Dean Ashton blasted this player in the win over Leeds and suggested he was cheating.
