West Ham found themselves trailing 1-0 at half-time against Manchester City on Sunday, and Lukasz Fabianski struggled.
The Hammers goalkeeper was poor with his goal kicks, and Joe Speight was far from impressed while commentating for Premier League productions.
The snow did very little to help Fabianski, and given that he is not very comfortable with his kicks, the weather conditions made things worse for him.
The BT Sport commentator said during the game: “Fabianski is struggling in these conditions with his kicking.”
The Hammers goalie continues to start ahead of Alphonse Areola due to his experience, but the Frenchman is better with his kicking and David Moyes would not have been pleased with what he saw from the veteran.
Playing out from the back is not his strength, and one of his poor goal-kicks almost resulted in a goal for Man City.
West Ham needed to improve significantly in the second-half, but they found themselves 2-0 down before Manuel Lanzini pulled one back on the stroke of full-time.
A result at the Etihad Stadium was not going to come easy, and while the Hammers have proven themselves on a couple of occasions this term, they could not against a better opponent.
Having a goalie capable of helping out with building play from the back would have helped, and while Fabianski is far from being a poor keeper, West Ham would improve if he was able to kick better.
