Tony Gale has delivered a brutal assessment of West Ham attacker Said Benrahma after what he saw of him in the Wolves clash.
As a whole, the Hammers side were not good enough and deserved to run out 1-0 losers on the day.
However, the Algerian, who’s been brilliant throughout the season, had a number of moments where he appeared to kill the attack and that was duly pointed out by Gale.
The Sky Sports pundit, who was on commentary for Premier League’s world feed, said, “Benrahma has been struggling today. Not able to get a hold of this contest. Maybe a position change can help him rediscover his form.”
Ineffective as a ten
David Moyes has made Benrahma play in the number 10 role on a number of occasions this season.
While he has had some success playing there, he is clearly not at home in that role.
At Brentford, he always played off the left and terrified the opposing full-backs.
It does make some sense for Moyes to throw him back on the left and possibly try Pablo Fornals or Manuel Lanzini playing centrally.
Benrahma is a phenomenal dribbler and also has an end product – something that the Hammers can count on.
He can also make those darting runs off Michail Antonio and that could help get the Jamaican more involved in the build-up play.
