We’re delighted to welcome Michelle Irons as our exclusive West Ham Women’s expert. Each week she’ll be giving her views on the biggest talking points at Victoria Road…

Michelle Irons is optimistic that West Ham Women can bounce back from last weekend’s 4-0 drubbing to Arsenal when they take on Reading on Sunday.

Olli Harder’s side suffered their second defeat of the campaign against the Women’s Super League leaders, with the gulf in their squads quality reflecting in the result.

The Ironesses host struggling Reading in their seventh league game of the season, and Michelle Irons believes securing all three points should not be a problem.

She told West Ham Zone: I am really excited for this game celebrating the women’s football weekend.

Reading have always given us a good game over the years, and I have no doubt Sunday won’t be any different.

I’m attending the game tomorrow with my sister. It will be her first home game this season and her first at Dagenham, so fingers crossed for a victory and three points.

“[It’s] such a shame about Adriana Leon being out now until at least the New Year, so that’s extra pressure on Claudia Walker, but she’s had such an impact on this team so far. I can see her getting some chances.

“Hopefully, we will see plenty of fans there to support the girls.”

Canadian international Leon has bagged a goal in six appearances in the WSL this season, but surgery on a foot fracture she sustained in February means she will now miss the rest of the year.

A revision surgery to help with the ongoing pain after an initial operation in March was necessary, and while she will be missed, Walker will be hoping to step up.

The former Birmingham City star has two goals this term, and adding to her tally this afternoon will come in handy as West Ham Women look to secure their third win of the season.

In other West Ham news, ExWHUemployee has claimed Kretinsky could see Hammers sign extraordinary int’l striker.
