West Ham will look to bounce back from back-to-back Premier League losses when they host Brighton and Hove Albion at the London Stadium on Wednesday.

Failure to win could see the Hammers drop out of the top-four, and Paul Merson has predicted a 1-1 draw in his Sportskeeda column due to the current forms of both sides.

David Moyes could look to ring the changes to his starting XI as Chelsea’s clash on Saturday is also very important, and whether he has enough quality depth in his squad to beat the Seagulls remains to be seen.

Merson said: “West Ham managed to get into the top four but have now lost their last two games. They’ll be disappointed at the moment and will need to win this match.

Brighton are a good team that dominates football matches and this will be a hard Premier League game for West Ham. Brighton are getting back to where they were last year in the Premier League, to be honest.

“They produce lovely football from box to box but they’re missing far too many chances. Both teams have work to do at the moment and a draw is very likely here.”

Tough game

Brighton have not won any of their last eight league games, but they have only lost twice and are a tough team to break down due to their style of play.

They create lots of goalscoring chances but often struggle to convert them, and that could play into West Ham’s hands.

Michail Antonio has not scored in a while, and it is safe to say that has affected the Hammers’ chances of recent.

The Jamaican international striker has found the back of the net just once in his last seven Premier League appearances for the Irons, and that needs to change very soon.

Should he end up adding to his six goals and three assists in 13 league games this season against Brighton and it results in a win, it could prove to be very crucial for the team’s morale ahead of the Chelsea clash.

West Ham will be full of confidence heading into the London derby on the back of a victory, and that is badly needed on Wednesday.

A draw or defeat will not be good, and they need to win such a game to prove their top-four credentials.
