West Ham United striker Michail Antonio opened his account for Jamaica in style on Saturday in a 1-1 draw with El Salvador.
The 31-year-old was making his second appearance for the Caribbean nation, and he almost got them closer to the CONCACAF World Cup play-off spot after breaking the deadlock in the 82nd minute.
However, El Salvador scored a 90th-minute equaliser, and Jamaica needs to do better in their remaining seven games to have a chance of reaching just their second-ever World Cup.
Antonio’s goal impressed some of his former West Ham teammates, and here is how Pedro Obiang and Jesse Lingard reacted to it on his personal Instagram account.
On fire indeed
The Hammers ace has bullied loads of Premier League defenders so far this term to rack up six goals and three assists in 10 appearances, and that form finally reflected for his country.
Antonio latched on to a long clearance before shrugging off the efforts of a defender and racing towards goal after leaving his marker in his wake.
He finally dinked over the ball over goalkeeper after another defender was left confused with his step overs, and not many can blame him.
Marking the West Ham hitman is not an easy task, and his strength and speed have proven too much to handle for many defences in England.
Antonio will be hoping to lead Jamaica to next year’s World Cup after opting to represent them following continual snubs from the Three Lions.
If he keeps up this form and maintains his fitness, he could be featuring for them in Qatar.
In other West Ham news, ExWHUemployee has claimed Kretinsky could see Hammers sign extraordinary int’l striker.
