Robbie Savage has insisted that West Ham United could be the next team to break into the Premier League top four.

The English top-flight has been dominated by the so-called “big six” for many years now, but the likes of the Irons and Leicester are making that look foolish.

Savage has been stunned by the Hammers and David Moyes, insisting that confidence will never have been higher in the squad than right now.

Speaking on Three of the Best for William Hill this week, Savage also couldn’t believe that the Irons don’t miss Jesse Lingard.

“I think the manager has got a squad, he utilises that squad ever so well,” he said.

“He’s got players playing at the top of their game, just look at Declan Rice. Look at Antonio, the worry would be if he is out for a considerable amount of time.

“They believe now that they can beat any side. He has done an unbelievable job, and if any team are going to break into the top four, it could be them.

“The unbelievable thing? They’ve not missed Jesse Lingard.”

Why not?

The Premier League has never been as wide open as it is right now.

You look at the current state of the table, and you have to admit that Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool will be fighting for top spot and finish in the top three along the way.

After that, there is a huge queue of teams who will be fighting for that last spot.

Many would say Manchester United, but after that embarrassing display against Liverpool, anything is possible for the Irons moving forward.

Moyes would be happy with keeping his side in the top six for yet another season of European football, and so would we – it is all about gradual progression.

The Irons have found a brilliant knack of picking up wins here and there, even when they aren’t at their best and if that continues, who knows where we could be come May.
