David Moyes has made it clear that West Ham would be looking to sign players [Evening Standard] in January, before admitting that it would be difficult to get the right players.

Signing a centre-back is necessary, with the Hammers missing
the services of Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma.

Also, adding a striker to their ranks who can compete with Michail Antonio, should be a priority. An attacking midfielder would be an added bonus.

With these in minds, here WHZ take a look at three players the Hammers must sign:

Sven Botman

West Ham reportedly made an enquiry to sign the Dutch defender [90 Min] in January, and he should be top of Moyes’s priority list.

The Hammers have also been linked with a move for Liverpool defender Nat Phillips [Claret and Hugh], who is currently injured, but Botman would be a massive addition.

According to reports from The Daily Mail, he would cost around £30million, and Lille could be willing to sell – if the price is met.

The towering defender has been top-class for the French club in recent years. He is an “excellent” passer of the ball, and reads the game exceptionally well. He is worth every penny.

Divock Origi

Earlier this month (8 December), ExWHUemployee claimed that the Hammers could move for Divock Origi in January.

Origi has a contract at Anfield till 2022, and Liverpool would be willing to let him go in January.

The Belgium striker may not have played enough games under Jurgen Klopp in recent years, but he has etched his name as a club legend at Liverpool.

He has been a part of some of the historic moments at the club, including his brace against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final.

A proven goal scorer with plenty of Premier League experience, Origi could take the Hammers to the next level.

Ben Brereton Diaz

Alex Crook claimed on talkSPORT (15 December) that the Hammers are keen to sign Blackburn Rovers star Ben Brereton Diaz in January.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder has been enjoying a
dream season for Rovers, scoring 20 league goals in 24 appearances.

Moyes has previously plucked talents from the ChampionshipJarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma – and he can repeat the success by moving for the Chile forward.

Brereton is a fantastic finisher but he is equally a versatile attacker. He can play on the left and right flanks as well.

He is far from being the finished product, and there’s plenty of room for improvement. But the talent is there, and Moyes must use it.
