West Ham should do everything to sign Sven Botman in the upcoming January transfer window.

According to a recent report from 90 min, the Hammers have made an enquiry to sign the highly-rated Lille defender.

The Dutch defender joined the French club in 2020 for around £7million, and he has been top-class for them.

West Ham are in dire need of a defender in January, following
long-term injuries to Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma.

David Moyes has relied heavily on Craig Dawson and Issa Diop
in recent matches, but he needs depth in the squad.

The 21-year-old, however, is unsure about leaving Lille as the French side are in the Champions League knock-out stages. Lille are also not in a rush to sell him.

However, a host of clubs including West Ham are vying for his signature and Lille could be tempted to do business, if the offer is right.

The Towering defender is an “excellent” passer of the ball. He is a ball-playing centre-back who is equally competent in possession.

He is very good at driving the ball out from the back, while his mentality and approach towards the game are fantastic.

However, the best part of his game is passing. He is quick at distribution, which means he doesn’t take extra touches while delivering the ball.

Another important aspect of his game is that he is very calm with the ball on his feet. That shows his confidence. He reads the game very well and makes timely interceptions.

Having said that, he is far from being a finished product, and his prime years are ahead of him. He would be a stellar signing for the Hammers.
