West Ham should now make a formal move to Liverpool striker Divock Origi who can leave Anfield this month.

According to reports from The Telegraph, Newcastle United have stepped up their chase to sign the Reds striker, and the Hammers must prioritise his signing at the earliest.

Last month, West Ham insider ExWHUemployee claimed that the Hammers could move for Origi in January.

Origi will be a free agent in the summer, and Liverpool will be keen to do a business. At £7m, this is an opportunity the Hammers must not let it slip.

Despite the fact that Liverpool will be without Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah this month due to their participation in the African Cup of Nations, they will not stand in the way of Origi if a good offer comes in.

The 26-year-old is a proven Premier League striker who is a natural finisher. Liverpool have a wealth of quality options upfront and it hasn’t been easy for the Belgian to cement his position in the starting line-up.

That does not mean that he is a bad player. Origi has played a heroic part in some of Liverpool’s memorable wins in recent years, with Jurgen Klopp (4 December) hailing him as a club “legend”.

It’s
well known that the Hammers are looking to sign a striker this month. Michail
Antonio is the lone striker at the club and he needs support and competition.

West Ham have been reportedly targeting Gabriel Barbosa [Sky Sport], but Origi would be a better signing than him.

Considering Origi’s age, experience, price-tag, and the current transfer situation, a move for him now is a no-brainer.
