West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has backed ‘amazingJarrod Bowen to earn a call-up to the England squad saying that he ‘deserves a chance’.

Bowen scored twice against Norwich to take his tally for the season to eight goals and his brilliant form has seen him tipped for a maiden call-up to the national team.

The 25-year-old winger has been linked with a move to Liverpool [Claret&Hugh] and been likened to their current superstar Mohamed Salah [Football.London] for his performances this season.

Now Fabianski, who has been his teammate since he signed from Hull in January 2020, believes that he deserves the chance to show his stuff at international level.

“I think he has been amazing since he signed for the club, from the very first moment,” he said via Football London. “He is so direct but I think what he has improved is his finishing, the quality of his runs and the timing of his runs. The final bits as well are there.

“He is strong and powerful, we are happy to have him. Any defenders that plays against him struggles a bit so he has become a big threat and in my opinion he really deserves a chance with the national team as well.”

Bowen has proven that all he needs is an opportunity and he will give everything he can to take it with both hands.

When he was performing well with Hull in the Championship and the Hammers took him to the Premier League, he had a short adjustment period and is now one of the first names on the teamsheet.

The same could be said for England, although the level of competition for his position is far higher. But with Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford struggling for form, there is a chance he gets the call up.

There is a long time between now and March, the next time England play, but if he can maintain his form between now and then there is no reason he shouldn’t expect a call up.

If he gets that opportunity to show Southgate what he’s got, then it’s fair to expect that he will leave a lasting impression and put himself right in the mix for a World Cup place at the end of the year.
