West Ham are hoping to have Kurt Zouma available again this week, but ‘definitely by the end of the month’ if not according to The Athletic’s Tom Clark.

The France international has been missing for the Hammers since limping off with an injury in the club’s 3-2 win over former side Chelsea in December.

While he was expected to be out for a while with injury, the 27-year-old is ahead of schedule in his recovery and according to Clark’s Twitter account, he could return as soon as this weekend.

West Ham take on Leeds United in a rematch from their FA Cup tie last weekend, which the Hammers won 2-0.

Clark stated that if Zouma isn’t quite ready for that game, he will ‘definitely’ be back by the end of the month which will come as a huge boost to the east London outfit.

Zouma has been a colossus in defence this season for West Ham since joining from Chelsea in the summer.

The Hammers have won seven of the 12 games that Zouma has appeared in, including the game against Chelsea where he got injured. His aerial ability and physical capabilities have suited the team perfectly and he slotted in seamlessly.

His injury saw the Hammers go through a bad run of form, but they’ve recently come out on the other side of that and he will now be returning to the side in good form.

It will be a huge boost to David Moyes, who has been forced to play with a four-at-the-back system with Craig Dawson and Issa Diop playing every minute of every game over a hectic period of games.

He can now potentially give them a rest and/or switch his systems up with more options available to him.
