Manchester United are ready to sell 2020/21 West Ham loan star Jesse Lingard for £10million in January, according to The Sun.

Lingard, 28, was in “sensational” [Nigel Winterburn] form during a loan spell at the London Stadium last season, but he has been marginalised at Old Trafford since returning during the summer.

The England international has played just eight times for the Red Devils this season, including two Champions League appearances.

Now, Manchester United are set to offer Lingard out for £10million in January, despite insisting on £25million when West Ham tried to sign him for £18million earlier this year.

It is claimed that David Moyes, who has a good relationship with the Warrington-born attacker, could now land Lingard for less than half of Manchester United’s original asking price.

West Ham’s status as top-four challengers to Manchester United is not expected to derail any move.

Bargain boost

West Ham supporters are probably sick and tired of hearing about Lingard and a potential return to the London Stadium, and may have decided to move on.

However, if the Irons can sign him for £10million in January, it would surely represent a snip in the current climate.

His Red Devils contract is expiring at the end of the season, and thus he will be available on a free transfer in a matter of months.

But he had a transformative effect on the Irons’ 2020/21 campaign with nine goals, and the hope would be that he could repeat that this season and guide the East London side to Champions League qualification.

His goals could be especially vital if West Ham fail to sign a recognised centre-forward.

In other West Ham news, the Irons are readying a bid to sign this 31-cap South-American star.
