West Ham are keen on Bologna left-back Aaron Hickey and his Stuttgart counterpart Borna Sosa, according to ExWHUemployee.
The reliable Hammers insider claimed on the West Ham Way Patreon that David Moyes is still very much keen on strengthening in the position, and after pulling out of the race for Everton ace Lucas Digne due to his personal demands, the club are looking at younger options.
Scottish sensation Hickey, 19, has been described by Ex as “very very good with a lot of potential”, and with Digne set to move to Aston Villa, the Bologna teenager is set to be available having been earlier linked with the Midlands out.
Sosa, 23, plays for Croatia and can also feature at left wing-back, and the London Stadium outfit are keeping an eye on him too.
January move possible?
West Ham have Aaron Cresswell as their first-choice left-back, but he is currently injured and Arthur Masuaku has not impressed in his absence.
Right-back Ben Johnson can also play in the position, but it appears Moyes wants a natural option, and Sosa and Hickey have both been scouted by the club.
The Scottish kid has featured in 30 Serie A games over the last two seasons despite his tender years, and he has been very impressive going forward this term, with four goals to his name already.
Hickey could prove to be the perfect long-term successor to his namesake at West Ham, and given that he has been frequently linked with the Premier League, beating suitors to his signature would be massive.
Sosa has two goals and three assists in 17 games across all competitions in 2021-22 after weighing in with nine assists in 26 Bundesliga games last term.
He brings more experience to the table and would give Cresswell straight competition, but whether the Hammers can complete a move for him or Hickey this month remains to be seen.
